What is FSC® ?

The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world's forests. FSC-certified wood products (including paper) are considered "forest-friendly" products. Companies like IKEA, B&Q, Home Depot, HSBC, and Xerox use FSC-certified materials.

Why use FSC paper over recycled paper?

█  Recycled paper is best suited for products like cardboard boxes and newspapers; higher-grade products are harder to manufacture and may cause secondary pollution.

█  If recycled paper comes from deforestation of tropical rainforests, it only slows down the reduction of forests. FSC ensures responsible forest management.

█  Worldwide switch to recycled paper would exhaust recycled pulp quickly as paper can only be recycled 5-6 times. Fresh pulp is always needed.

█  The percentage of recycled content in recycled paper is not as controllable as FSC-certified products, leading to incidents like the 2008 revelation in Japan where 17 out of 24 paper mills falsely reported recycled content.
